Ghanaian defender Mohammed Salisu has praised the attributes of Barcelona and Spain forward Lamine Yamal.
On Monday night, the AS Monaco center-back faced the victor of the European Championship for the first time as the French team defeated Barcelona 3-0 to claim the Joan Gamper Trophy.
At the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys, Yamal was brought on as a second-half substitution, but he was unable to prevent Salisu from matching him boot for boot, and his team lost.
“He performed admirably at the Euros after having a fantastic season. The former Real Valladolid defender told Mundo Deportivo, “I think he is a special player.”
Salisu believes the 17-year-old forward will go on and have a great career following his explosiveness.
“Yes, I think everyone was surprised because he is a young player. He is 16-17 years old and at that age, when you play this kind of football, it is a bit of a surprise for everyone. I think he has a great future and he is a great player,” he added.
