Tariq Lamptey to miss Brighton’s EPL opener

Tariq Lamptey, a defender for Ghana, will miss Brighton & Hove Albion’s league opener at Goodison Park on Saturday against Everton.

For their 2024–2025 season-opening, the Seagulls—headed by new manager Fabian Hurzeler—head to Merseyside.

Prior to this week’s trip to Everton, the Ghanaian international, who was absent from the preseason friendly against Villarreal, resumed training.

Hurzeler did, however, reveal prior to the game that the 24-year-old will not be ready for the season’s first game as he heals from a knock sustained during practice.

Hurzeler stated at his first press conference before making his Premier League debut, “I’m not sure if they’re ready for the first match, but it’s great news that they’re back.”

Lamptey, who has thrived as a versatile wing-back, is still a vital member of the Amex Park team and is anticipated to play a significant role in the upcoming campaign.

In addition, it is anticipated that the English-born defender would be match fit for Ghana’s September AFCON qualifiers against Angola and Niger.
