Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku and ecstatic football supporters welcomed CAF President Patrice Motsepe to Accra early on Saturday morning.
Motsepe, the millionaire South African businessman who heads the body that oversees African football, landed ahead of a busy schedule that includes attending the African Schools Football Championship final and chairing the CAF Executive Committee meeting.
Excited fans gathered at Kotoka International Airport to greet Motsepe with singing and waving Ghanaian flags, demonstrating his visit’s mounting excitement.

Motsepe will meet with Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama later today to hold high-level talks about the growth of football in Ghana and the continent. Strategies for using football to empower African youth and promote broader social development are anticipated to be among the main subjects.
After last month’s hotly contested elections, the Executive Committee is expected to endorse key leadership nominations, thus his visit comes at a critical time for CAF.
Important decisions will be made in the Ghanaian capital to change CAF’s governance structure.
Motsepe’s presence also underlines the rising importance of school-level football in CAF’s agenda. The African Schools Football Championship, whose final will be played on Saturday, is one of CAF’s flagship initiatives to nurture the next generation of talent.
For Ghana, hosting the CAF President offers a significant boost, with GFA boss Kurt Okraku poised for elevation to one of CAF’s Vice-President roles as the body seeks to restore regional balance after recent political tensions.
Motsepe’s visit symbolises renewed collaboration between CAF and its member nations, with hopes high that fresh initiatives will drive football development and opportunity for Africa’s youth.
