As the four-time African champions get ready to start their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign, Ghana coach Carlos Queiroz has praised the Black Stars as a "fantastic group".

In the 2026 World Cup in North America, the 73-year-old Portuguese led Ghana to the knockout round, the nation's finest showing since making it to the quarterfinals in 2010.

Now that they have qualified for the World Cup, Queiroz is focusing on getting back to the AFCON finals.

The seasoned coach stated that the World Cup experience has increased his faith in the team in an interview with the Ghana Football Association's website.

"Very significant. "We worked hard on the entire process we went through during the World Cup," Queiroz said.

"It was an experience that gave us a deep understanding of the players, their qualities and their character." "We have a fantastic group and a fantastic national-team culture."

"I am a very proud coach to be part of this group."

Ghana's qualification campaign begins on September 24 with a tough trip to Bouaké to play Côte d'Ivoire at the Stade de la Paix.

On September 27, the Black Stars will play The Gambia at the Accra Sports Stadium as Queiroz attempts to establish early momentum in Group C.

On October 4, they will play a friendly match against Morocco at the Grand Stade de Tanger to wrap up the international window.

In advance of the three games, the team has already set up camp in Accra.
