Ghana’s Black Stars will travel to Bouaké for a crucial 2027 AFCON Group C qualifier against Côte d’Ivoire amid injury concerns in Carlos Queiroz’s squad.


Ghana’s Black Stars will leave Accra on Wednesday morning for Bouaké, Côte d’Ivoire, ahead of their opening 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Group C qualifier against the Elephants.


The pivotal match is set for Thursday, September 24, 2026, and Ghana hopes to win away from home as the qualifying battle begins.

As head coach Carlos Queiroz steps up preparations for the match, the Black Stars have been in camp in Accra since Monday.

The technical team used Tuesday's training session at the Accra Sports Stadium, where eighteen players participated, to refine the team in preparation for the trip.


The Black Stars' last practice after arriving in Bouaké is scheduled for Wednesday, and they will play Côte d'Ivoire on Thursday.

Ghana, Côte d'Ivoire, The Gambia, and Somalia have been placed in Group C of the 2027 AFCON qualifiers.

In order to guaranty a spot at the 2027 event, the Black Stars will be looking to get off to a solid start in their qualification campaign, especially against one of the group's main rivals.


However, an increasing number of injury worries and reported withdrawals have impacted Ghana's preparations.

Due to concerns raised by medical evaluations regarding several of the players initially chosen for the qualifiers, Queiroz has already had to make a number of changes to his team.

The technical crew now faces an extra task ahead of their consecutive Group C matches against Côte d'Ivoire and The Gambia.

The Black Stars will be looking to overcome the setbacks and return from Bouaké with a victory that solidifies their place in the group, as the first qualifier is only a few days away.
