Alexander Djiku, the Ghanaian defender for Fenerbahce, has praised Jose Mourinho, the team’s new manager, for his tactical nous, saying that the group is putting in a lot of effort to adjust to his new game plan and philosophy.
Since joining the Istanbul-based team in the summer, 29-year-old Djiku has been pleased with Mourinho’s management style. The defender had an incredible rookie campaign, participating in 36 games, scoring three goals, and dishing out two assists.
Jose Mourinho is entering his first Turkish football league with Fenerbahce, adding to his already impressive coaching resume that includes managing teams in Portugal, England, Italy, and Spain.
Ismail Kartal, Fenerbahce’s former manager, was fired after his team lost to rival Galatasaray by a mere three points in the Turkish championship.
Djiku gave a positive statement about the ongoing preseason training to Fenerbahce TV.
“We’re training quite nicely. The friendly match we have scheduled is quickly approaching. We’re picking up the pace and level. There was a strong and caliber squad the previous year. Numerous players are still active this year, Djiku said to Fenerbahce TV.
“We are trying to understand and establish our coach’s game tactics and philosophy. He is truly a great coach and tactician. He has won everything throughout his career and is a football legend. Benefiting from his experience makes us very happy,” he added.
