Jordan Ayew, the captain of Ghana, has finalised his transfer to Sheffield United and signed a one-year deal with the Championship team.

After his Leicester City contract ended at the end of the previous season, the 34-year-old forward became a free agent and joined the Blades.

The seasoned Ghanaian international has now been added to Sheffield United's 25-man roster, and he immediately joins Chris Wilder's team.

In the World Cup, Ayew made his final competitive appearance, starting all four of Ghana's games as the Black Stars advanced to the knockout round, including the 0-0 tie with England.

The team acted swiftly to finalise the transaction, and Wilder is thrilled to have acquired the seasoned forward.

Wilder stated, "I am really happy to have Jordan with us. I spoke last week about being close to getting someone in from the free agent market, and things did move quite quickly."

The Sheffield United manager commended Ayew's top-tier experience and his versatility as a front-line player.

"This person has a tonne of experience from playing at the highest level of the game. He has a great pedigree because he was captaining Ghana in the World Cup just a few months ago.


"He has played all across the front positions throughout his career, which gives us plenty of options, and he performed well at this level last season in challenging circumstances," he continued.

According to Ayew, he was thrilled to finish the move and is committed to having an impact right away.

"I'm so happy to be here. "The club and the manager worked really hard to get me here as soon as possible," Ayew remarked.

"The manager called me last week while I was in Ghana, so it occurred really quickly. I simply seized the chance without giving it much thought.



Ayew brings more than 500 competitive appearances to Sheffield United, having played for Marseille, Sochaux, Lorient, Aston Villa, Swansea City, Crystal Palace and Leicester City. He will now begin his latest chapter in English football as Sheffield United look to strengthen their attack for the season.
