Samuel Eto'o, head of the Cameroon Football Federation (Fecafoot), has come under fire from the Association of Amateur Football Clubs of Cameroon (ACFAC) for allegedly accepting a payment from the Russian Football Union.

In addition to pursuing a separate legal action against the Russian Football Union in Russia, the amateur clubs' organization says it would file a lawsuit in Cameroon against the former Barcelona and Inter Milan striker.

The accusations are related to an October 2023 friendly between Russia and Cameroon.


ACFAC claims that by moving over 567,000 euros (£490,000/$654,000) into a bank account that purportedly did not belong to the Cameroonian federation, the Russian Football Union violated the conditions of its contract with Fecafoot.

ACFAC has encouraged authorities to look into the facts surrounding the transaction, claiming that the payment was fraudulently obtained.

Fecafoot's leader since 2021, Eto'o, has not addressed the most recent accusations in public.

Throughout his tenure, the 45-year-old has been embroiled in a number of scandals, yet some African football authorities have continued to support him.
