Ghana head coach Charles Sampson has announced his final 21-player squad for the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Poland, completing the Black Princesses’ preparations.


Sampson has selected a blend of experienced players and emerging talents, with three squad members having previously featured at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.


Defender Alexandra Tay, forward Jennifer Dawah and goalkeeper Najat Abdul Salam will provide valuable tournament experience as Ghana prepare to compete on the global stage once again.


Ghana’s goalkeepers for the tournament

Abdul Salam is joined by Precious Akanguwie and Ruth Agudu Sebbie in the goalkeeping department. The trio will compete for the starting role as Ghana prepare for their opening group-stage fixture in Poland.



Black Princesses defensive squad Sampson has selected six defenders for the tournament. The defensive group consists of Precious Asante, Ruby Osei, Juliana Gyekyewaa, Salma Naazo, Margaret Agyapomaa and Diana Amoako.


Agyapomaa represents Police Ladies, while Amoako comes from Ampem Darkoa Ladies, adding domestic league experience to Ghana’s defensive options.


Five midfielders selected

The Black Princesses’ midfield will feature Esther Asamoah Yiadom, Latifa Musah, Latifa Abesik, Sarah Nyarko and Ruth Amponsah.


Sampson will rely on the midfield group to provide balance and creativity as Ghana navigate what promises to be a demanding group-stage campaign.


Ghana’s forwards

The attacking options include Ivy Osei Owusu, Jackline Ntoso, Priscilla Mensah, Angelema Akanyirige and Agnes Yeboah.


Yeboah, who plays for Guangdong Women’s, is the squad’s overseas-based forward and will be among the players expected to contribute goals in Poland. Ghana open World Cup campaign against Ecuador.


The Black Princesses will begin their FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup campaign against Ecuador on September 6, 2026. Ghana will then take on Korea Republic before completing the group stage against France.


The results from those three matches will determine whether Sampson’s team advances to the knockout phase of the competition. With the final squad now confirmed, Ghana can turn its attention fully towards the tournament.


The presence of players with previous U-20 World Cup experience could prove valuable as the Black Princesses look to make a strong start in Poland.
