Erling Haaland has been named the official 2022-23 Premier League Player of the Season.
During Erling Haaland’s debut season with Manchester City, the 22-year-old Norwegian appeared in 35 EPL games, scoring 36 goals and providing eight assists.
Until Haaland accomplished this astounding accomplishment, no player had ever scored more than 34 goals in a single Premier League season.
Haaland beat out fellow contenders Harry Kane, Kevin De Bruyne, Kieran Trippier, Marcus Rashford, Bukayo Saka, and Martin Odegaard in a vote to win the award this season.
Furthermore, the City forward overcame Saka, Odegaard, Gabriel Martinelli, Moises Caicedo, Alexis Mac Allister, Sven Botman, and Alexander Isak to earn the Premier League’s official Young Player of the Season award.
Haaland responded to his twin achievement on Twitter, writing, “Proud and humbled to become the first-ever footballer to win both Premier League Player of the Season and Premier League Young Player of the Season.”
“I owe this to my family, fans, teammates, and the entire staff!”
Earlier this month, Haaland was named Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year.
