Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz has outlined his long-term vision for Ghana, with the experienced Portuguese tactician already looking beyond the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations to the 2030 FIFA World Cup.


The former Real Madrid tactician has been entrusted by the Ghana Football Association to continue as Black Stars coach following an impressive 2026 World Cup performance in North America.


The West African football powerhouse defied expectations to reach the knockout stage of the global showpiece for the first time since 2010.


Ghana finished third in Group I to secure a place in the Round of 32, where they suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to Colombia and were eliminated from the tournament.


For Queiroz, the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations will serve as an important platform for Ghana to build a stronger and more competitive national team capable of challenging on the global stage. “Now, a new chapter begins,” Queiroz said. “The Africa Cup of Nations is much more than our next destination — it is the golden gateway to building the Black Stars that will shine and proudly compete at the 2030 FIFA World Cup.” “Our ambition is clear: improve every day, unite the nation, make Ghana stronger and fight for every victory with passion, humility and pride,” he added. “One Team. His immediate focus will be on the 2027 AFCON qualifiers, but his latest message underlines his desire to use the tournament as part of a broader rebuilding process ahead of the 2030 World Cup.


The Black Stars will commence their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers with an away fixture against Ivory Coast before hosting the Gambia on home turf this month.
