On Saturday, Tottenham Hotspur lost 3-2 to Aston Villa in the Premier League, and Mohammed Kudus recorded his first assist of the year.

Conor Gallagher scored Tottenham's first league goal of the year in the 86th minute after the Ghana international entered the game at halftime and had an instant impact.

After Aston Villa had gained a 3-0 lead, Kudus received the ball and created an opening for Gallagher, who scored to give Spurs hope of finishing a late comeback.

Only a few days after returning to the starting lineup in Tottenham's Carabao Cup loss to Liverpool, Kudus provided his first assist of the 2026–2027 Premier League season.


Roberto De Zerbi sent on the 26-year-old at the beginning of the second half as Tottenham attempted to turn the tide of a match in which they were still looking for their first Premier League goal of the year.

After Tottenham believed they had pulled one back earlier in the second half, Kudus's goal was also disallowed for offside.

Villa held on for a 3-2 victory despite Spurs scored twice in the closing minutes, leaving De Zerbi's team without a Premier League victory this year.

After missing the 2026 FIFA World Cup owing to an injury that kept him out for seven months, Kudus returned to the Black Stars squad, and his most recent contribution comes at a crucial time for Ghana.


He is anticipated to play alongside Carlos Queiroz's team in Ghana's forthcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against The Gambia and Côte d'Ivoire, as well as an international friendly against Morocco.

Ghana will host The Gambia in Accra on September 29, play Côte d'Ivoire in Bouaké on September 24, and travel to Morocco for the friendly on October 4.
