Joseph Paintsil Scores First of the Season as LA Galaxy Exit Champions Cup

Los Angeles Galaxy’s winger Joseph Paintsil of Ghana scored the team’s first goal of the season, but the MLS champions were eliminated from the CONCACAF Champions Cup.

However, after goals from Uriel Antuna and Nicolas Ibanez in the ninth and tenth minutes, LA Galaxy’s defeat came from giving up twice in a minute.

Paintsil gave LA Galaxy hope with his 40th minute goal but Romulo restored the Mexicans two-goal advantage after the break.

Carlos Garces scored on the hour mark to pull one back for LA Galaxy as their journey in the Champions Cup came to a crashing end.

Paintsil will now switch his attention to the MLS game against Houston Dynamo on Sunday.
