In their second game in the WAFU B U17 Girls Cup on Friday, defending champions Ghana defeated bitter rivals Nigeria 4-2.

The Black Maidens wanted to improve on their 4-1 thumping of Burkina Faso on the first day of play.

Shortly after the hour mark, the Flamingos took the lead, and just before the half ended, they added the second.

After returning from halftime, Ghana matched Nigeria in every category and narrowed the gap thanks to captain Seidatu Wahab, who finished second in the competition.

Nigeria's No. 10 shirt girl dribbled past goalkeeper Josephine Nyanfule to slide the ball home in the 70th minute, giving them a two-goal advantage again.

Nigeria's fourth goal came from a 25-yard free kick that went past the unfortunate Nyanfule. Substitute Gloria Ameaa's low drive from within the area in the ninetieth minute cut the lead in half.

On Monday, September 21, 2026, Ghana will play Togo.
