Christopher Antwi-Adjei, a Ghanaian international, helped Vfl Bochum avoid relegation on Monday by defeating Fortuna Dusseldorf in the German Bundesliga playoff.
The former Black Stars winger did not play when his team overcame a 3-0 deficit to defeat Dusseldorf and stay in the German top division.
Last Friday, Bochum lost 3-0 at home in the first leg of the playoff match before winning the second leg away.
Germany international Philipp Hofmann netted brace before Kevin Stöger added the third goal as the game ended in a 3-3 aggregate after both legs.
However, Bochum triumphed over Dusseldorf on penalties to survive relegation. They are expected to participate in the upcoming league campaign.
Although, the Ghana international was an unused substitute in the much-anticipated clash but his contribution to the club toward escaping the drop cannot be overlooked.
The 30-year-old Ghanaian attacker made 27 appearances in the Bundesliga scoring two goals and providing two assists across the period.
His contract is expected to expire next month but it is unknown whether he will continue with Bochum.
